Senior Software Developer at netwealth

Over a decade in C#, and the infrastructure underneath it.

The Work

I’ve spent over a decade writing C#, and a fair bit of that time on the infrastructure underneath it: Terraform, container orchestrators and Go tooling.

Right now I’m a Senior Software Developer at netwealth, a fintech that runs pensions and investments on a mix of digital tools and human advisers. I led the team of six behind MyNetwealth, the part of the product where clients track their assets.

I also moved us off Azure DevOps and onto GitHub. Pipelines now sit next to the code in Actions, and new features reach us as GitHub ships them rather than whenever Azure DevOps got round to it.

Being on the platform team makes me something of a first port of call. Most weeks that means pipelines, or an architectural decision someone wants a second opinion on. Lately it has been a lot of Umbraco.

Away From The Keyboard

Indoor rock climbing is my go-to. It’s a physical problem and a mental one at the same time, which is most of why it holds my attention.

Running does a similar job at a different pace. The rhythm of a long run is where a busy week finally goes quiet.

Badminton when I want a friendly match, and stand-up paddleboarding when what I want is flat water and no noise at all.

Otherwise it’s films, games, and working through a decent coffee.
